Introductory cooking course „Cooking with wild herbs“ combined with a recreative weekend in the Steinschalerhof in the „Dirndltal“. The Mostviertel is known as the fertile land. With us you will get insights into an mostly unknown, but interesting fertility: eatable wild herbs and wild plants. These are not only rather tasty and healthy, but also stimulate to care more about nature and its treasures.


The Steinschalerhof has a long tradition of cooking with wild herbs – both for vegetarian as well as for lovers of meat and fish dishes. We provide you with practical information about the herbs and their use based on the comprehensive wealth of experience of our kitchen team. You would like to join in and cook or participate as observer? As you wish! Amongst plenty of ideas, healthy tips and new knowledge about herbs you will also receive interesting recipes.

The Programme:


1st day Arrival, Introduction into the programme and first look at the manuals (recipes)
2nd day: Feast breakfast – possibility to relax – late breakfast. Guided tour through the Steinschaler natural gardens with explanation of different wild herbs. This tour provides you with the necessary information for the cooking course – getting to know the wild herbs and eatable wild plants.
Wild herbs cooking course: Precious tips for wild herbs cooking.
3rd day: Guided morning hike (most of the time with the entrepreneur of the hotel) in the charming landscape of the Dirndltal.

We are happy to suggest a program according to your desires. Extension is possible by the day.

Collateral guests who do not join the cooking course can choose from a couple of alternatives: Hiking, horse riding, mountain biking, visitation of the Nixhöhe (stalactite cave), ride with the nostalgic narrow-gauge railway Mariazellerbahn and more …
